What does a fire-pit snuffer actually do?

A snuffer starves the fire of oxygen, letting logs die out naturally without water that can crack masonry or send ash everywhere—safer, cleaner, and ready for next time.

Does the lid also keep rain and sparks out?

The plate sits flush and overlaps the rim by about ½″, blocking rainwater, embers, and drifting leaves to keep your pit clean and dry overnight.

Will the steel warp or discolor?

The 16 gauge plate won’t warp under normal wood-burning temps, and the high-heat coating darkens uniformly rather than flaking or peeling.
